Ashfield Land delivers new Lidl for Worcester
11 Aug 2022
Ashfield Land has delivered the first phase of its £9 million regeneration of the JVM castings site in Worcester with a new Lidl store opening.
The scheme has injected new life into the 10-acre Droitwich Road site by creating a new car park for JVM castings so that the location of the previous car park could be transformed into a new 2,200 sq m Lidl with a dedicated customer car park. The new supermarket has created 40 new jobs.
Over the next few years, Ashfield Land and JVM castings will be continuing their collaboration to make this important local employment site even more sustainable to meet the evolving needs of the occupier with improved facilities, new staff parking and more efficient use of the site.
Andrew Fisher, Managing Director at Ashfield Land, said: “The transformation for Lidl is complete! It’s great to celebrate this success story and welcome Lidl to their new store in this part of Worcester. Through excellent teamwork we have channelled investment to create a new food store and consolidate the existing site. Our eye for smart ways to make sites work harder and more efficiently means that this important location now delivers more jobs and opportunities and will be a real asset for the city.”
A spokesperson for Lidl GB commented: “It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome everyone into our new store in Worcester. We have received overwhelming support from local residents, and we would like to thank all those who has played a part in delivering this new store. We now look forward to serving our multi-award winning products to everyone within the local community.”
Construction of the new Lidl store was managed by local West Midlands-based Benniman Construction with the wider design and development team including SRD Architects; Naismiths; Cundall and CWA with Mode Transport Planning and Link Engineering on highways.
