PureGym to open at Ashfield Land’s Two 74 in first half of 2025
08 Jul 2024
Construction of Glasgow’s newest PureGym has begun at Ashfield Land’s Two 74 Glasgow development, off Cambuslang Road adjacent to Junction 2 of the M74.
Ashfield Land has invested over £2 million in the new PureGym and has appointed local contractor, CM Steel Buildings Ltd, to deliver the high-quality 13,000 sq ft building.
The new PureGym building is expected to open to the public in the first half of 2025 and will add to the mix of leisure facilities at Two 74 alongside Topgolf. Topgolf Glasgow – the first such facility in Scotland – has been a successful addition to the local area since opening in December 2022.
Approximately 12 new full-time jobs will be created by PureGym on opening, with recruitment to be focused on the local area.
Paul Jagroop, Projects Director at Ashfield Land, said “It’s been a pleasure working with PureGym and the design team to bring this project to fruition. We’re excited to get started on site with CM Steel Buildings and to add to the leisure offering at Two 74 alongside Topgolf. We’re working with a local supply chain, creating new local jobs and delivering a range of economic benefits, and I’m looking forward to seeing the build progress toward opening next spring.”
A spokesperson for PureGym said: “Following sustained demand for our flexible, affordable offering, we are delighted to be expanding our presence in Scotland and opening in Glasgow Rutherglen in 2025. The new gym will be a fantastic addition to the existing leisure facilities at Two 74, providing members with 24/7 access to state-of-the-art fitness facilities through our low-cost, zero-contract memberships. We look forward to welcoming members through our doors next year – look out for our opening offer!”
Planning permission for the new PureGym was granted by South Lanarkshire Council in the autumn 2023. The high-quality development includes energy saving measures, solar panels and electric vehicle charging, and is targeting an EPC A rating with the fit-out completed by PureGym.
The wider design team includes Cooper Cromar Architect, DSSR services consultant, WRD civil and structural engineers, and Currie and Brown as the employer’s agent, cost consultant, and principle designer.
Two 74 lies at Junction 2 of the M74 and is part of Clyde Gateway, Scotland’s biggest and most ambitious regeneration programme.
