Ashfield Land capitalises on strategic acquisition in Northamptonshire
13 Jan 2016
7th January 2016, Birmingham: Ashfield Land has purchased a 30 acre site strategically located in Rushden, East Northamptonshire.
The land was formerly part of Nene Valley Farm and has been acquired to develop a mixed-use scheme that will include office, industrial, retail and leisure facilities. The site was acquired for an undisclosed sum.
The site, fronting the A45, is located adjacent to the forthcoming LXB/Crown Estate’s £140 million Rushden Lakes shopping and leisure development as well as the existing Foxhill and Crown Business Parks which accommodate the likes of Waitrose, Lidl and Wickes as well as the core of Rushden’s commercial occupiers.
Nick Jones, Director of Ashfield Land said: “This acquisition is an opportunity to develop an exciting scheme in a location that has become a commercial and residential hub for the area. We look forward to working with the Local Authority to deliver a development that not only encourages retention and expansion of existing local businesses, but also creates further employment opportunities.”
He added that “Our confidence in the potential of the site has seemingly been borne out by the strength in the enquiries that we have received in just two to three weeks from the acquisition”.
“It is our intention to progress both existing and new interest in the form of a masterplan that is acceptable to the local authority leading to a planning application later this year”.
