Topgolf Glasgow wins Best Regeneration Project at The Herald Property Awards
02 Oct 2023
Ashfield Land is celebrating after Topgolf Glasgow was awarded Scotland’s Best Regeneration Project (Commercial) of the year at The Herald Property Awards on Thursday 28 September.
Scotland’s first Topgolf facility was delivered by Ashfield Land at its Two 74 development in Rutherglen, which is part of the Clyde Gateway regeneration zone. The 45,000 sq ft golfing attraction features a three-tiered driving range with 72 climate-controlled outdoor hitting bays, designed for all skill levels from beginners to seasoned golfers.
The Herald Property Awards for Scotland is Scotland’s leading property awards scheme, honouring the achievements of the most innovative and successful developers, housebuilders, agents and all those involved in the property industry. Topgolf Glasgow went home with the Best Regeneration Project award, which recognises innovative use of brownfield sites, architectural design and consideration for green issues, as well as the impact a project has had on the local community.
Topgolf Glasgow created 300 new jobs from a multi-million pound investment and has been a huge success since opening in December 2022 with high visitor numbers and rave reviews, already delivering significant economic benefits to the local area.
Steven McGarva, Development Director at Ashfield Land, said: “It’s been fantastic to watch the transformation of our Two 74 site from an unused, brownfield site to a fantastic leisure facility which has delivered hundreds of new jobs and significant economic and social benefits.
“We’re honoured to be recognised by The Herald Property Awards for the regeneration impact Topgolf has had, and I’m excited at the value it will deliver for the local area for decades to come. I’d like to thank Clyde Gateway as well as a long list of partners on this project for contributing to making Topgolf Glasgow such a success.”
Two 74 lies at Junction 2 of the M74 and is part of Clyde Gateway, Scotland’s biggest and most ambitious regeneration programme. Ashfield Land has two further development sites at Two 74 which are in the process of being brought forward for development.
