Ashfield Land acquired the Swindon College Campus in 2006. The site totals approximately 5 acres and comprised a mixture of period and 1960’s educational buildings, which had reached the end of their economic life, yet were located in a prime location on the edge of the town centre.

Ashfield Land acquired the site in an unconditional purchase which enabled the college to relocate to new state of the art facilities elsewhere in the town.

At the time of acquisition there was a dearth of good quality places for customers to dine in central Swindon and the two leisure schemes were limited to Shaw Ridge to the west and Greenbridge to the east both of which were anchored by old format cinemas. We recognised, therefore, that there was a need for a new high quality leisure scheme in the town centre. In addition the town centre food store offer was extremely limited.

An outline planning permission was obtained in 2007 followed by detailed consent for a major retail and leisure development. The scheme comprises a 50,000 sq ft foodstore, a six screen all digital cinema, and eight restaurants, along with the conversion of the old Technical college to PRS residential use. This project was funded and delivered during global recession and spearheaded the regeneration of the Swindon Town Centre.

Tenants include Morrisons, Cineworld, Prezzo, Nandos, ASK Italian, Coal Grill and Bar, and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.
